My name is John Wormald, and I live here in Abersoch with my wife, Amanda. Situated near the tip of the Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales, Abersoch is a place people either fall in love with or simply don’t understand. It’s not just a village—it’s a lifestyle. And for those who love it, the connection lasts a lifetime.

Amanda and I have been coming here for over 60 years, and even now, the place feels as magical as it did when we first arrived. Not much has changed, which might be why it continues to attract people looking for a slice of life far removed from the hustle of the “real” world.

In 2002, I finally had the opportunity to live here permanently—a dream I’d long held. I had never really been into photography; as a child, I had a camera but quickly grew impatient waiting for film to be developed. But everything changed with the arrival of digital photography.

The light here is extraordinary. I grew tired of trying to describe the sunrises over Abersoch or the spectacular waves at Porth Ceiriad to friends back in Manchester. Words simply couldn’t do it justice. So, I bought a camera. Suddenly, I could capture these moments, share them, and show people the beauty I had been fortunate enough to live with every day.

Abersoch isn’t just a place on a map—it’s a feeling, a memory, and a way of life. And for those of us lucky enough to call it home, it remains as enchanting today as it ever was.
